Change to Blue Change to Green Change to Purple Change to Ochre

A Creative Crossroads

I have to say I’ve been struggling a bit these last few weeks. A lack of time to focus on projects such as my book reviews for PGUK, my film reviews for The Film Pilgrim and my own personal projects including my new novel and the collab work I’m looking to do with one Mr Lawrence has left me feeling drained and more than a little fed up.

I’m in a strange situation really. I have this burning passion inside me to become an established writer and a published author that every day at the moment I feel like some sort of caged animal constantly tormented by the world passing by outside those bars, yet all the while trapped within that frustrating cage that is life.

I have to say it’s really starting to get me down. Four years I spent writing a total of three books as my ‘writing apprenticeship’, and yet in a way, it seems as it was all for nothing. Spare time — I don’t have any spare time. It’s 10am Saturday morning and what am I doing? I’m sitting at my computer finishing a book review and writing a blog for my website which is becoming increasingly neglected as I spend my weekdays working online as my day job.

Well, there isn’t much more I can say really. While today I have all the usual householdy-type things planned, tomorrow at least is free. I hope — just hope — that tomorrow might bring me an hour or two of that oh-so-sweet freedom in the morning where my mind isn’t clogged up with all the troubles of life and I can actually get down to doing something I really want to do: write. The Darkest Hour has been postponed for too long now, and even as I think about it I remember I still have another 5k+ to type (not happening I’m afraid!), and then I still have to start on this work for Mr Lawrence….

The life of a writer eh!

Dreadfully Ever After

So I’ve finally put my Dreadfully Ever After review up. To go along with my review of what is in all honesty, a pretty good book, PGUK have sent me the link to the following video trailer for the book. I have to say this whole concept of video trailers for books is new to me, but I have to say I’m quite impressed:

Red Bull Reporter

I was recently contacted through my website by a member of the Red Bull Reporter marketing department. Unfortunately, given all that’s going on in life at the moment, I really don’t have the time for this as well as everything else. It is however, a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in motorsport journalism. I sincerely suggest you give the 2011 Red Bull Reporter competition  a look!
