Change to Blue Change to Green Change to Purple Change to Ochre

The waiting game...

So I sit here in the middle of August, wondering when things are all going to come together. Annoyingly, I’m still waiting for a certain Mr Lawrence to produce my final front cover illustration which was paid for over a month ago now. Until I get the finished article back from him I’m stuck in a sort of limbo as far as the self-publishing project goes. Without the cover illustration, I can’t get the final cover designed and send everything off to the publishers for printing.

It’s a good job I set the preliminary publishing date for October. At the rate things are going at present, even October seems way too soon.

If there’s one thing I’ve learnt from all this, it’s to treat people you do business with exactly as that – as business people – even if they are your friends. This means not paying for goods in advance; this means setting strict conditions on completion dates; and most importantly of all, this means not taken it as a given that things will be done based on friendship alone.

Writing update

With all this waiting, you'll be pleased to know my writing at present is going fairly well. I'm actually nearing completion of the first third of my book. I looked over my ever-growing hand-written manuscript the other day and realised to my horror I have over 40 sides of A4 to type up. On the plus side, I have 40 sides of A4 to type up. On the down side, I have 40 sides of A4 to type up. I've been so busy with job-hunting and other computer-based tasks of late, it seems I've really let my typing slip behind. I hope to rectify this problem later this week.
