Current Projects
Projects I'm currently working on. (Updated July2010.)
The Powers that be Trilogy by M.J.Ryder
I am currently in the process of seeing through a self-publishing project: The Powers that be trilogy. I am now officially registered as a publisher, own my own set of ISBNs and am currently seeing about the cover design with the help of my friend David Lawrence. Official launch date is pencilled in for October release.
The Star-Eater Trilogy by M.J.Ryder
Varrus is back! Though it's taken me a long ol time, and one completely scrapped 70k manuscript, I am currently engaged in writing the follow-up series to The Powers that be trilogy. Now I have a better grasp of where I want to go with the plot and the characters, I hope to really get down to some serious writing over these next few months. I am currently some 20k words into my latest book.
A Door to Nowhere by M.J.Ryder
A Door to Nowhere is a humorous fantasy adventure story written for the 7-10 children's market. Written in a Dahl-esque style and making use of a "larger than life" pantomime villain in the evil Sheriff Stinkbottom, A Door to Nowhere is full of fun and mischievousness and will appeal to boys and girls alike. I am currently seeking representation for this work.
CNC:EVO
I have recently agreed to work as Global Moderator on the new Tiberian Sun community forums found at www.cncevo.info.
University
I have now officially achieved a First Class Honours Degree in English with Creative Writing from Brunel University, Greater London. I graduate in July. As of October I shall be attending Birkbeck College (University of London) reading a Masters in Victorian Studies. This shall be undertaken over the course of two years in the evenings. As the course is held in the evening, I intend on working full-time to fund my studies and future studies.
LeNurb
At the time of writing, my 3-year stint as columnist and sub-editor for student magazine LeNurb has just come to an end. I have just been entered for the second year running into the Guardian Student Media Awards. For more information, please visit the Articles section.
Project 'Find a Job'
A bit tongue-in-cheek I know, but now university is over, I am in desperate need of a job. With so many hundreds of thousands of unemployed graduates out there also looking for jobs, the jobs market is a scary, scary place. I am currently working as a volunteer in a local charity book shop while I find proper paid employment.
MJRyder.net
A slightly obvious project, but important nonetheless, I am continually working on updating and improving MJRyder.net and see it as an important part of my online presence.
